Expired Domain Names Policy
Home > Expired Domain Names Policy
This policy affects all generic Top Level Domains, and reflects ICANN's consensus policies, and are incorporated by reference into our Registrant Agreement.
Prior to the expiration of any domain name registration, we will notify registered name holders of the expiration at least two times, as follows.
- We will send automated reminder notice emails of pending domain name renewals to registered name holders, sent to the primary contact email address for the registered name holder.
- Such notices will be sent out on two occasions prior to the expiry of the domain name (at approximately 1 month and approximately 1 week prior to expiry).
- If a domain name has not been renewed by the registered name holder, we will email an additional renewal notification within 5 days of the domain name's expiry date.
Such notices will be provided in the language of the registration agreement (English). If the registered name holder declines to renew, the domain name will enter the deletion process.
Policy if registrant fails to renew
On occasion, the registered name holder may wish to restore a domain name which it has failed to renew, and which has been listed for deletion (or even deleted). We will abide by ICANN consensus policies on expired domains, as amended from time to time. Renewal can take place during the Post-Expiration Renewal period or the Redemption Grace period.
Renewal during Post-Expiration Renewal period
Following the expiry date, we will mark non-renewed domain names for deletion. For at least eight (8) consecutive dates after expiration, the domain name will continue to be renewable by the registered name holder at expiration. To the extent that the relevant domain name registry allows, we will interrupt the resolution path specified by the registered name holder at expiration, and will display a web page that conspicuously indicates that the domain name registration is expired and provides renewal instructions. During this eight (8) day period, should the registered name holder at expiration so choose, the registered name holder at expiration may renew the domain name. Upon renewal by the registered name holder at expiration, we will restore the DNS path set by the registered name holder at expiration immediately or as soon as commercially reasonable.
Renewal during Redemption Grace period
For a period of 30 days immediately following the deletion of a registration, we will provide a Redemption Grace Period, provided that the relevant registry allows a Redemption Grace Period. During the Redemption Grace Period the deleted registration may be restored at the request of the registered name holder at expiration, and we will permit the registered name holder at expiration to redeem a delegated registration during Redemption Grace Period (subject to Redemption Grace Period being offered by the relevant registry).
Fees
For renewal up to and including 8 consecutive days after expiration: Relevant renewal fee (exc. VAT).
For restoration and renewal during Redemption Grace Period: £50 plus relevant renewal fee (ex VAT).
Interpretation
In case the terms of this policy conflicts with ICANN consensus policies from time to time, the ICANN consensus policies shall prevail.
